Full Description:
Overview
Do you need a technical introduction to the services provided by OS/390 and z/OS for securing a Web application available through an Internet or intranet connection? Learn about the security mechanisms on OS/390 and z/OS and how you can use them to meet your own Web security requirements. Learn about the implementation of security in terms of identification, authentication, access control, data integrity, and, to some extent, non-repudiation. Learn the exploitation of software components that supply these services through hands-on sessions. Hands-on lab projects may be done in teams depending on the number of attendees and location.
Along with lectures on the OS/390 and z/OS security services, study scenarios that require increasing levels of security, from a public Web server to an Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) enabled Web server with digital certificates. In the hands-on exercises, you begin with your own Web server in the TCP/IP environment. Make changes to the Web server's configuration and other system files to activate the authentication of Web users via Resource Access Control Facility (RACF) userids and passwords. Also, improve the protection of userids, passwords, and other sensitive data with SSL and authentication of users with X.509 V3 digital certificates.
Also, learn about the Firewall Technologies for OS/390 and z/OS. Use them to keep unwanted traffic from reaching your server and provide a secure tunnel to your business partner across the Internet.
Finally, learn about the relationship between Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) and RACF. Use that relationship to provide authentication services to applications running on OS/390 or other systems.
