Why Take Our Course?
More organizations every day are "hanging out a shingle" to offer forensics training. Some have experienced instructors and some do not. Some also rely on a single software package for their forensic work. Our courses emphasize technique and methodology, regardless of the software package used.
Our goal is to help you become a forensic analyst that can think independently and deal with any situtation that arises. Forensic examiners that know how to use a single program and are not aware of what happens behind the scenes are not true forensic analysts, but are merely people using software. These people will not hold up well against skilled forensic examiners who challenge their results and methodology - cases can be won or lost due to the skills of the forensic examiner.
Student Comments
I was watching Court TV today, the Michael Peterson case. An expert was being questioned in regards to the computer evidence. I can say that you taught us extremely well. I was finding problems with his testimony, and was picking up mistakes that he had made during his investigation. I would have done a much better job, and after seeing this today, I realize the value of your course and why you require the prerequisites for it.
I’ll be back for the advanced class without a doubt!

Your Introduction to Computer Forensics class was one of the best I've taken yet. Not only did I learn the basics of conducting technical forensic investigations, I also feel confident that I can actually get started working in this field. Your approach of teaching what the forensic tools are doing by having us conduct forensic investigations manually is the only way to go. I feel that I could now use any software tool in my forensic investigations with confidence. The experience you related to the class from actually working in the field was invaluable, and worth three times the price of the course itself. You have enabled your students to be light years ahead of anyone else, and I'm very grateful for the new outlook you've given me in these difficult economic times. In a way I wish you'd keep this course secret to keep my competition down - I wouldn't want to go up against someone in a deposition or trial that had been trained by you!
I can't wait for your advanced class. I'll be the first to sign up.

I appreciate very much, the attention to detail that was put into the Forensics course. The written coursework is clear and to the point - some classes I've taken elsewhere have clunky, vague and unhelpful coursework. I appreciated Steve's input to the coursework, in the classroom. The hands-on practicals in class were helpful in cementing my understanding of the techniques involved.
New to me was the aspect of legal investigation, and thinking in terms of law, procedure and courtroom conduct. I believe this is a very important aspect to include in any Forensics course, as it seems reasonable to assume that if one performs this kind of work for very long, they'll end up in a courtroom situation at some point.
In addition to new techniques and knowledge, I always come away from Steve's classes with several things: one, a sense of the interconnections in computing, and, two, that I need to evaluate my assumptions and biases before sitting down at any computer.

The Introduction to Computer Forensics class was fantastic. I am really looking forward to any other courses that you offer. I thought I would have to travel out of state to take training of this nature and pay thousands of dollars more. I cannot thank-you enough for creating the course and your willingness to share information above and beyond the course materials.
I learned more from your course than my entire stack of forensics books and other "experts" I have talked to over the years. Just to let you know, I have canceled several security classes that I was going to take at another college and have signed up to take them from you. You make the classes fun, interesting, and I can tell you really care about your students. I am sticking with a winner.

With crimes and litigation related to the use of computer technology on the rise, the need for individuals skilled in computer forensics and computer security will continue to be in demand. Your Introduction to Computer Forensics class is top notch. Your "hands on" approach to teaching not only allows students to learn the basics of computer forensics, but also provides a detailed procedure for using forensic tools and conducting forensic investigations.
Another very important area covered in class was the legal aspects related to conducting a forensic examination, as well as how to deal with attorneys. You brought home the point that one can be an excellent forensic investigator, but all the work performed will be a waste of effort if the case is thrown out of court or lost because of a failure to follow correct procedures. Your real-world experience and stories concerning the cases you've worked on helped to solidify not only what we were learning, but why we were learning it.
Another excellent class. I am looking forward to the advanced Computer Forensics class.

I just wanted to thank you again for your forensics class. Someone here got wind that I had some forensics training and our HR department had me do some work for them. Someone here had decided to purchase EnCase before I even took your class, so that’s what I had to use. The non-vendor related information you taught was instrumental in my being able to quickly learn the tool and produce some good results.
It was nice to be able to put to rest some of the rumors about what the computer was being used for. I was able to let HR know what the user did and didn’t appear to do.
It’s nice to get my first solo run out of the way with out having to worry about court and lawyers. A couple more from HR and maybe I’ll be ready to strike out on my own :-P
Thanks again,
