Overview

Are you already familiar with OS/390 or z/OS concepts and need to know about the Resource Access Control Facility (RACF)? Learn to be an effective RACF security administrator as you gain experience and confidence in using the RACF element of the z/OS Security Server. Learn to use RACF to define users, set up group structures, and protect general resources and data sets.

This course presents RACF functions beyond those covered in

Basics of OS/390 RACF Administration (H3917).
Hands-on lab projects may be done in teams depending on the number of attendees and location.

Set up a RACF group structure
Use RACF to define general resources

Understand how z/OS and OS/390 components interface with RACF

Audience

Individuals who need a thorough knowledge of the RACF element of the OS/390 Security Server, and who have responsibility for security administration. This includes security administrators, security auditors, and OS/390 system programmers. Inexperienced OS/390 users should take H3917.


Prerequisites

You should complete:

Fundamental System Skills in z/OS and OS/390 (ES10A)
Basics of OS/390 RACF Administration (H3917)
or be familiar with the facilities of OS/390 or z/OS and be able to logon to Time Sharing Option (TSO), and use Interactive System Productivity Facility (ISPF). You should also have knowledge about OS/390 or z/OS data sets, Direct Access Storage Device (DASD) volumes, and how application programs use data on DASD or tape.
